Rosie McCaffrey
Hi there! I am an aspiring writer based in Glasgow and the co-founder of Black Opal Arts. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature as well as a Masters in Creative Writing, both from Glasgow University. My short fiction has been published in From Glasgow to Saturn and Aloud magazine, and I had the great privilege of being a proofreader for the illustrated book I Love St. Andrews by Carly Brown. During my fourth year at university, I interned for Glasgow-based publisher Ringwood Publishing and wrote fortnightly film reviews for online magazine Style and Sound. I am absolutely passionate about editing, and I firmly believe that every word counts.

Billie Lamont
Founder of Black Opal Arts and co-host of its debut event, Noctis in 2015. I have a Bachelor’s degree in English and Film from Edinburgh Napier University where I was involved in the Saughton prison programme. The position consisted of editorial duties such as assisting inmates with their English projects, proofreading and giving constructive feedback. I gained my Masters in Creative Writing from Glasgow University and my short stories have been published in From Glasgow to Saturn and the crime anthology Crooked Holster. I believe the word ‘redraft’ is one of the most beautiful in the English language. Sorry Mr Tolkien.
